WP2 - Resource Accounting Methodology

This work package will create relevant definitions for calculating eco-cost values (Guidelines), determine key material and substance flow indicators, how the results can be presented to end consumers and firms including benchmark figures, and identify how myEcoCost can accelerate existing (life cycle) assessment practice. Developing the framework for an almost-real-time measurement is relevant to the objectives of the Commission's Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS), and the myEcoCost structure will provide a highly relevant ontology. Applying eco-cost knowledge to inform product design and operational production decision making will be investigated. This will involve the identification of key processes in value chains and the demonstration in a simulated virtual supply chain, how readily available data can be used to influence business decision making and the specification of the entire accounting framework.
